The Arizona Mountaineering Club was founded in 1964 for the purpose of promoting and teaching safe rock climbing. Today the AMC has over 300 members who are involved in all aspects of rock climbing, mountaineering and various other outdoor sports. AMC members range from the occasional weekend climber to those who attempt the highest mountains around the world.
Welcome to the Phoenix Rock climbing Meet-up! This group is for people who have a passion for textured surfaces, chalk, and getting to the top by working your ass off. It is not a place for competing, but camaraderie of climbers who are here to encourage, learn, teach and meet some new people who have a common interest, regardless of experience. We are a fun group of experienced hikers, canyoneers and climbers who welcome others who enjoy difficult 5+ mile trails at a fast pace. This is NOT A BEGINNER hiking group - we do Camelback and/or Piestewa Peak during the week for workouts to train for our longer weekend hikes. If you cannot summit both of those trails - you will find our hikes VERY difficult.
